"Great Stay"6th February 2013, Brisbane
As we were driving from Foix difficult to find the hotel, however if travelled on main highway not a problem. Great location, service, meals & bar area. Helpfull staff. The old city is easy walking distance
"Good Hotel - But terrible reception staff ruined our stay"19th December 2012, THEVIKING100, LONDON
This is a good hotel in a good location totally spoilt by three of the reception staff. We had a four night break to see the area in winter and booked an upgraded room which was very good. We arrived ten minutes before check in time to be told that our room would not be available for one hour. I asked the reason for this. There followed an animated loud discussion in french between to members of staff - most of which I could not understand because it was so fast. We were asked again how many nights we were staying, handed two key cards and told which room number we were in. Not even a smile. No other information on restaurant times, help with luggage etc. Over the next two days I needed to return to reception with the key cards as they were not working. To be told by the manager that they had only been programmed for a day. There were only a handful of guests staying and we had a whole wing to ourselves so there were plenty of rooms available. There appeared to be a preoccupation with the computer screen whenever people were at the reception desk. They had no idea about how to speak and make contact and engage to people welcome. We felt we were an inconvenience being there. Included in our stay was a welcome gift on arrival - we even had to ask for that. They pulled a canvas bag out from behind a radiator and handed it to me. It contained two small bottles of water, two snack bars and best of all a small map of the area!!! When checking out not even asked about our stay or a thank you for staying. Just to add insult they tried to charge us twice for the stay. On our email confirmation it said 'LET GOOD THINGS HAPPEN...........with Mercure Hotels' Well it certainly did't happen for us.I will say that the restaurant and cleaning staff were very good.We stayed in four other Accor hotels on this trip and all were very good.
"Perfect position, very small room"29th September 2012, AnneW49_12, Derby, United Kingdom
I booked this hotel for it's position 2 mins from the Medieval Cite of Carcassonne, & presumably that was what we paid for! However the room was tiny, the pillows were that ridiculous square shape which is no good to anyone & only 1 out of 4 reception staff was helpful.
"Not a Novetel"15th August 2012, francophile900, Toulon, France
The wi fi is a lot easier than at Novetel and deserves top marks.Unfortunatly the staff could benifit from some 'service' training. Failed to offer childrens menu, clear table, take drinks order, offer coffee.
"Great location - but big variety in room quality and rude staff"14th August 2012, ourhouseinquercy, Souillac, France
We booked two rooms, and so we got to see a lovely new room, and sad tired old room. The new rooms (which I assume are going to be rolled out over the whole hotel) were great, but the old ones were scruffy and a bit dirty. Staff were RUDE. We were not given the code to get into the remote carpark. When I asked for it the next morning the desk staff barked "it's the same as we gave you yesterday!" Really unnecessary. Also, we were asked to show ID for our children, something we have never been asked in any of the Mecure hotels we have stayed at. Kids under 12 get free breakfast with Mecure. Two of our children are 12 and 13, but they are always given the free breakfast, no questions asked. Because we are a large family and have to book two rooms, I assume Mecure staff everywhere else enforce this rule with discretion. We have never been dishonest with their ages, it's just we have never been asked. Given the high price for rooms in this hotel, I would have assumed the kids would have been given breakfast as part of the price.
"Much Improved."29th July 2012, Lytton_12, Bath, United Kingdom
We enjoyed our recent stay in this hotel. Having stayed a few years ago, we enjoyed the upgraded rooms, new decor etc....it is much improved. Would strongly recommend this hotel for it,s location as the old city is a few minutes walk away, yet you can have peace & quiet within the hotel. We ate out in the old city as the hotel resturant is quite expensive. Would happily return....good for families as well.
"Fantastic location, great pool"15th July 2012, Melbourne, Australia
Had originally booked at a hotel within the cite but for various reasons changed our booking and stayed at the mercure. Glad we did. Although we were outside the cite it was literally a 3 minute walk to the gates and it was actually nice to get out of the tourist area at the end of the day. Enjoyed some time in the sun by the lovely pool after a hard days sightseeing and had two fabulous meals in the hotel restaurant. Staff were very helpful and efficient. Would recommend this hotel over one inside the cite without a doubt.
"Good quality for reasonable price. Hotel design to be revised!"9th July 2012, London, United Kingdom
It is definitely a good standard hotel for a reasonable price. The hotel is not very charming but it has a great pool, comfortable bedrooms and a copious breakfast. It is only 5 mn walk from the Cite de Carcassonne. All services are friendly and professional. The only drawbacks are the design of the hotel itself: the pedestrian access is through a car park, so not very user friendly and the second floor bedrooms that could offer the best view to the medieval city, have a tiny window. Please book ground and first floor bedrooms facing the city. The others are facing a car park.
"Great location"3rd June 2012, dabmrb, Shaker Heights, Ohio, USA
This hotel was within a few minutes of the main gate to the old city. Had a nice pool and was located in a quiet part of town with lots of flowers around the hotel. Only problem we had was that it was a holiday weekend in France and the air conditioning failed. The lady at the front desk (until 11PM) was very very nice and tried her best to get it fixed--more than once since it failed a couple of times. She discovered that the service people had installed a part "backwards" so the air conditioning worked when you turned the thermometer up to 30 degrees--it did work over night--so, major problem averted! Breakfast was fine--with lots of seating inside and outside.
"Right Next Door to Carcassonne"20th May 2012, Jaatmaster
A great hotel with a perfect location. I was surprised because on google map it looked further away from the castle. We walked to the castle the day we got there and the day we left. The hotel allowed us to leave our car in the lot even though we had checked out. The dining room and bar are just beautiful, although we didn't use them.
"Personally welcomed"31st March 2012, Southampton, United Kingdom
What stood out during our visit was the genuine personal concern provided by eveey member of staff to make us feel welcome and looked after. This seemed to go deeper than a superficial politeness. Even when our concerns, e.g. about understandng the menu, may have seemed trivial or even eccentric we were taken seriously and staff did their best to make sure we were satisfied. We shall look forward to returning there in future and hope that this ethos of personal care persists
"More qualify as an ibis instead"21st July 2011, Hong Kong
Good location but not up to standard service. We were incepted by 2 unhappy staffs (no smile on their face and very cool). We stayed in 11 Accorhotels (all Mecure and ibis) throughout our 20-days vacation in France and the staffs at this Mercure Carcassonne are really very exceptional unfriendly (made us feel a bit embarrassing and not welcomed). We were told of allocation a room on the ground floor and just at the very last minute we were handed with the room key, they withdraw the keyschanged and we were allocated with another room...... The receptionist took copy of my passport but this never happen at other 10 Accorhotels in France...... we asked but they didn't explain why...... Room as small as Ibis......I chose this hotel simply because I'm happy with it good location to reach the walled town of Carcassonne. Another good point is that carpark usage is free. But to us, this is just of Ibis standard, not Mecure
"Great location but we got chareged more than what our reservation stated"18th July 2011, Belgrade, Serbia
Hotel is located just outside the old walled city and walking distance from downtown. Pool area and restaurant terrasse are very nice.I did not realized right away because we checked out in a hurry but we got charged 20 Euros more than what we were quoted when we reserved the room.
